Some helpful tips

There are a few general ‘rules of thumb’ that you can follow to help deal with the technicalities of digital media research.

  1. Keep things simple. Some projects will inevitably be technically complex, but it’s always worth trying to simplify and reduce complications where possible.
  2. Familiarise yourself with the technology before you need to use it for your research.
  3. Expect things not to work first time. If they do work, you’ll be pleasantly surprised. Troubleshooting, fixing and maintaining technologies is part of working with digital media.
