Questions of quality

Digital media allow for very different aesthetics and levels of quality. Browsing YouTube will reveal that it’s possible to work in a rough-and-ready way and still get great results. The media produced may have a home-made, ‘DIY’ quality, but they can convey a lot of information. For some projects, this might be appropriate.

A more professional end product may work better for other projects. This will be more technically demanding, will take more time, and may require specialised training or linking up with outside experts.

Quotes

“The approach of putting something up on a social media site and expecting the work to be done on dissemination is not realistic. The attention that we’ve always given to how we disseminate our findings should be given as well to using the online world.”
Susan Elsley, University of Edinburgh
